I've never worked at a restaurant but i always assumed most cash tips werent reported anyways.  So i always have cash on me when i go out to eat. And leave that for a tip.

And that's fine, but most people don't do that. Even back when I waited tables many years back the credit card tips always exceeded cash tips for those who actually left decent tips. I can't imagine it's gone more cash heavy these days, but I don't know. 

Bartending is a science all on it's own. I bartended for quite a while in my youth and holy crap, a majority of bartenders steal like thieves from the house. It's easy as can be.

Usually, I just write cash on the tip line and leave cash. I tip well, so I'm sure my servers prefer the cash.

I don’t believe your assertions here represent reality. You’re engaging in a lot of wishful thinking (for you.) The main problem with the “she’s a leftist” attack is that next week she’s going to lay out an economic plan that most of America will be in favor of. It will be filled with liberal (not leftist) proposals that Democrats have pushed for a long time and Republicans oppose, but high polling indicates the public likes. And there goes that attack. Moderates will vote for her.

One thing about no tax on tips is, it's gonna change the industry, no? With tips, places can pay less per hourly wage legally. If no taxes. Will they have to up the wages? Who knows, maybe some creative restaurant owners will compel their clientele to leave cash tips and they will partake in sharing the tips. There are a lot of particular ethnic places where the owners do that. I made a point of never working for them. But they do it.

I for one am pretty interested in seeing what it would do to the industry. But, then again, I'm old and in my 50s and don't really care in the end because I think it's not a bad thing, even if the results turn out not as expected. It's more interesting than anything to me.

I'm against tip sharing, at least amongst the servers. I get kicking back to bartenders and bussers. But if you're a good server and make good tips, you shouldn't be compelled to share your tips with shitty servers. 

Mebbe making tips tax exempt will result in better service as people will want to earn bigger tips.
