Caleb Williams is the real deal.

Recommended Posts

The game doesn't look too fast for Williams. He seems very comfortable even when under pressure. It may not happen for him this year but it will happen.

hes got a lot of potent weapons in the offense to use.   really all he needs to do is get the ball into one of their hands each play.

that alone takes a lot of pressure off of the rookie as I feel that this crew of WR's should be able to get open for their QB.   I really like his chances of an early breakout.

Wait until the speed of game picks up in the regular season, team usually go very vanilla on Def during most preseason games, he hasn’t seen anything yet.

I read that G Smith has looked good, he’s going to be a streamer for a bit, but might end up as my Qb.

fair enough, but hes not wrong.  teams do go vanilla on defense during most pre season games.

Sure, but nobody is a genius for saying a rookie QB will suffer a bit in his first year. It's a lame response. This has nothing to do with it. That's why someone who doesn't watch the game or know the game even knows that.

But, Williams has been going against what will be a top 5 defense this year that has been blitzing him 60% of the time in practices. That wasn't vanilla.

hard to quantify what you dont see.   people report on the pre season game and thats what they see on TV.

then people make stupid judgements based on that when in reality, the team may have put him through a much more rigorous test with their own defense in one of the closed or open practices.

but that's not on TV.   you know the saying..... 'out of sight out of mind.'

I do expect him to not be his absolute best this year.   hes a rookie.   but he has all the tools in the toolbox and all the weapons on offense he needs to be successful.   he just needs that experience.

I had initially predicted a 9-8 season.  but I'm thinking there may be a decent chance at a 10-7 season.

You think the NFL will let him wear the red don’t touch me jersey during regular season games, make him feel much more comfortable, like going against a practice top five Def.  Mmm.

This offense looked bad against one of the worst pass defenses in the league. Williams either doesn’t know what to do with the ball or the plays take too long to develop for that garbage o-line to protect him.

Remember how great they said he looked in the preseason.

I know it’s only been 4 games, but starting to look like the Bears should have taken Daniels instead.

As a Washington fan, I’m not upset at all about that.

Am I crazy for thinking about starting Williams this week over Josh Allen?  Allen has played well below his projection 3/5 weeks, has a tough road matchup against the Jets, and his WR group is banged up.

Williams has everyone healthy and is playing the Jags.

Jets are like a cornered, wounded animal right now.  Combine that with the fact it's a Jets home game, the Jets will be all feisty looking to prove themselves after the Saleh firing and Cook and Shakir are banged up/questionable and you have a perfect trap game for the Bills.  Jets are going to commit to running the ball instead of having Rodgers drop back 60 times so probably low scoring affair.  WIlliams finding his grove and playing a lesser defense so going with Williams over Allen definitely not crazy.  If you do it and Williams does better than Allen you are a genius.  However, if you do it and WIlliams face-plants you'll be an idiot. You know how it works!  Good luck!

Not feeling too bad on the decision to go with Williams over Allen this week.  Would have been nice if that Moore TD had stood, but 4 passing TD’s and some rushing yards…I’ll take it.

Really? A brand new offense and a rookie QB are taking time to mesh? Oh the horrors.

Pretty ballsy replying to a 2 week old remark about 4 games of lackluster play.  Obviously they’ve made adjustments & played better against 2 weaker defenses with no pass rush. It’s good to see & I hope it continues

So the first 4 games were "lackluster"? I agree. Yet they went 2-2 and only lost the 2 games by 1 score while their oline was a wreck trying to figure out the new offense.

I'm not suggesting the Bears are world beaters, and they will lose later this season, but give them credit, they absolutely dominated bad teams recently as any decent team should.

And what is so "ballsy" about replying to a comment previously posted? I think it's "ballsy" whining about rookie QBs when they are in their first few weeks in the NFL.

FF owners whine through out the season, it’s a part of the game.  Thanks

The Chicago/Washington game got moved from the 1pm slot to the 4:25 slot to be a nationally televised game.

Washington should make quick work of Carolina this week (although nothing is a lock in the NFL), and the Bears are on a 3 game win streak going into their by.

Should be a fun watch in week 8.

This is where the bears and williams get exposed after beating up on bad teams in their wins.

Depending on how the game with Carolina goes, I expect the spread to be something like Washington -4.5 or even as high as -6.5 or something like that since they are playing at home. Maybe You should throw down a cool $1000 on Washington and reap the benefits of that easy win.

It's hard to believe the league thinks that's even going to be a competitive game.

of course.

and I'd say give full credit to the Bears D.   they look like they may be one of the elite Defenses this year.

They are the reason for the bears hot start (mostly)   but then again, I figured a successful year would be if Caleb wasnt responsible for most of the losses.    hes had a rough start, but you at least need to give him credit for not flubbing it up.   He rode a great performance by the Defense to some wins as a champion should.    at this point he doesnt need to light the world on fire.  he only needs to:

1.  show he belongs in the nfl

2.  not get too cute.  if the team is winning just make sure you get the W.  dont worry about running up the score or padding your stats.

3) Learn, Learn, Learn.

I'll admit I was a bit worried after week 1.  the offense looked terrible, but the offense has evolved fairly quickly.  Hes starting to flash a bit.    He still has a ways to go, but the signs are there.  Hes starting to become a pro and show he belongs in the NFL

It also helped Caleb that D'Andre finally woke up the last 3 games.  Coincidentally about the same time Roschon Johnson's name started popping up a lot in terms of getting more carries/getting more involved in the offense.

this is the way it often goes.  its like one morning the guy woke up and the game suddenly has slowed down for him.   he sees things he didnt see before.

granted It is still early and he may struggle against some elite defenses, but he is also practicing against the Bears D so the rest of the league shouldnt be that hard compared to them.

I’ve never understood the excitement, at OU, USC or in CHI. Standard college star who once in the pros waits for a receiver to get open while everyone & everything is faster. Kennan Allen is a QB’s best friend. Odunze is a game breaker, Moore runs perfect routes, Kmet in the end zone, 2 great RBs. No excuses.

The second year to me is more of an indication of weather or not you have a franchise QB then there rookie season. If this was CJ Strouds rookie year he would be receiving the same treatment as Caleb Willams is now. Daniel’s has had an excellent rookie year so far but, so did CJ and so did Michael Vick, so did RGIII the list goes on and on.
