WR Hold-Outs (Ins)

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any reservations about drafting CeeDee Lamb and JaMar Chase? I know these guys are elite, but neither has participated in training camp due to contract issues. I feel like players who hold out for new contracts usually end up with some kind of soft tissue injury or have a dip in production. What do you guys think? Thanks.

I do...I have the second pick and leaning Hill

If he’s there at two.  I know he won’t be if I end up with the #1 pick!

I own Aiyuk in a Keeper Auction at a good price $15. I’m 50/50 about keeping him. Had he been to camp, *anyone’s camp* I wouldn’t hesitate to keep him but with all the goings on, I’m thisclose to passing for the exact reasons you mentioned.

I wouldn't knock them down too far, given they're ready to play week 1.

However, if it's a close call between them and someone else, It could be the deciding factor against CeeDee or Chase

A hold out has to drop a round or two for me especially if there is another player ranked just a few spots behind the holdout

So really what you’re saying, is they go on your dnd list.

that depends.  if everyone is doing it, then drafting the guy is still in play.

Not everyone is going to do that.

Any thoughts on Aiyuk?

Figured something (new contract or trade) would have happened by now, but what if it doesn’t?  Does he sit or play out the final year of his deal in SF?

Odds are he ultimately takes the Niners $28 mil offer. He wants $30 mil. Seriously doubt he risks all of it by playing out his contract.

Nobody holds out anymore. The last guy to do it was 2018 Lev Bell who now says it was the worst mistake of his life.

I'm already on record that CeeDee will fall out of the top 10.  Chase is a concern, too but I haven't been following that situation as closely.

He’s staying.

Wee,

there is DND and WTD wait to draft

If you drop them a round or two, your not getting them.  Sounds like a dnd list.  Thanks

Why don't the teams start holding out on the last year of player's contracts. These little puzzies need to get back to work. You signed the deal, pull up your big boy pants and deal with it you whinging losers.

For you, maybe. . Ditto Ray T’s comment. Half the league responds similarly, the other half filling other positions and voila, that player has slipped down. I agree with you it will not work on auto draft.

Arguing with someone over what they meant as you did  reminds of Axe Elf……….

well, thats the thing.  if you have 3 or 4 players you value relatively equally to that player the holdout likely makes me pick the other guys instead (no holdout issue)

so most of the time something like this means I take the guy a round later.   and I do think a lot of people do that even if they dont specifically move the player down their board.

so when you move a guy back a round on your draft board it could be the equivalence of the same.

only difference is the way you explain it.

How do you hold out on the last year of a contract? Shouldn't you hold out after the team's obligation has been met? What good is it if you can just bruise your labia because you have no patience?

They won't miss a game. Those game checks are too big to miss out on. Even on a rookie deal.

One might want to adjust their ranking of those player a little bit, but one full rd, I wouldn’t.

I'm worried about soft tissue injuries once they come back. Unfortunately it happens all the time

It’s interesting how often that does indeed happen. To much ice cream and cookies

While it is concerning about these guys holding out/in, Lamb, Chase and Aiyuk I'm not worried about them too much. If they're really good pros they'll know the importance of physically getting and staying in shape until their contracts come to a resolution. Granted it's not football shape of being in game like situations and getting hit. I'd say for WRs it does pose some risk of having a hamstring issue early in the season. Lamb and Chase are still elite and I'll draft them accordingly yet still being aware of possible soft tissue injury. So it's imperative you draft good WRs to fill your team.and being.prepared in the event you stud WR goes down with an injury. Of you completely overlook them.and don't draft them you could be kicking yourself in the butt for not going ahead and adding them to your roster.

Lamb & Chase are legit studs and should be drafted accordingly.  Aiyuk hasn't quite done enough to warrant stud status imho and now he add injury risk to his 2024 portfolio.  He's a dnd for me. There's plenty of guys to draft in his range that will perform about the same with less risk.
