Favorite Winter Recipes

Recommended Posts

My true favorite is my own ham and beans, which is the best I’ve ever had.  I take pride in my method.

Otherwise, I love making a soup called Caldo Gallego several times during the cold months.  It’s a hearty soup with chorizo, ham, beans, parsnips, potatoes, spinach or kale.

Really like a pot roast and beef stew in the colder months. And Guinness. 🍺

A little bit of espresso in the pot roast really adds to the flavor profile.

I have a recipe for it but I’m not typing all that.  Allrecipes.com has one, though.  The key thing is to toss a little smoked pulled pork on top of your bowl and that really sets it off.  Superb.

I do my pot roast with red wine, and the espresso pairs well with that.  It also pairs well with a porter, so maybe give it a try.

I usually do mine with a dark stout. I’ll give the espresso and wine a try though.

It's ridiculous. If I can find my recipe, I'll post...if not, you can wing it. RAW shrimp 1/2 way through cooking. Cayenne is my heat of choice with some Chipotle to smoke it up. Some diced thick cut bacon doesn't hurt. French or sourdough for dipping 👍 Pair it with a dark beer.....vanilla porter is my choice.🍺

When I do mine it’s usually 2 cups beef stock, half cup red and 1 ounce espresso.

I Love cooking, and the winter recipes are always the best.
