You're invested in these people because it's cheap labor for you w/out having to give them benefits as well.  Without them, you're going to be forced to actually pay a decent wage and give someone benefits - less money in your pocket.  And you'll have to pay taxes on them as well - also less money in your pocket.  It's not about  actually caring for them, it's about virtues w/out having to put any skin in the game yourself and mostly it's about your pocket book, plain and simple, cut and dried.

I’ve stated again and again that I hire undocumented people from time to time because they’re convenient. Because when I need day labor a few times a year they’re available. But I typically pay a pretty hefty sum, usually around $50 an hour.
