Hurricane Milton, Cat 3, flooding and lots of damage

Recommended Posts

We can debate who or what is causing climate change, but it's a fact that the Gulf of Mexico is warmer than historically, and that this leads to worse hurricanes.  That's just science.

That's just how the Earth works. And has been working since the beginning of the Earth.

Nope. Never. I love to golf and I can't golf when it is 80+ and humid. It feels like a job. I need to be golfing when it is between 60 and 75 and not humid. Florida has very few of the days. Massachusetts has 4 solid months.

Michigan rocks for golf.

Careful. You will enrage people with this 😂

Perhaps.  I don't find a lot of value in arguing whether the earth is overall warming or not, although a case can be made for it not doing so.  You always hear about glaciers that are retreating, for instance, because that's what the climate cult wants you to hear.  You probably don't hear about the glaciers that are growing though.  For example:

Quote
Hubbard Glacier
This glacier is advancing and increasing in mass, despite global climate warming. It is one of eight calving glaciers in Alaska that are growing.

Perhaps.  But the gulf does seem to be getting warmer, independent of the cause.  So what, if anything, do we do to adapt? :dunno:

Wisconsin has amazing courses.  Especially along Lake Michigan.

Great and funny book by Tom Coyne about playing the best / most unique courses in every state.

IIRC Wisconsin was his fav state pound for pound.

Outside of their sports teams, it's my favorite state.

Actually, thank you for saying "what do we do to ADAPT".  That question is just being overlooked by all the "leaders" around the world who think we are the ones in control of the climate.

Ultimately, people adapt, they build their homes on stilts, they have shelters, they do all sorts of things to manage their surrounds and their well being. It's the stupid people that don't run away from category 5 storms that die. It's the stupid people that build their homes in wild fire territories. And it's the stupid people that have regulations in California that don't allow controlled burning. It's science. Accept it instead of making up shlt saying it's the fault of humans.

People who live in hurricane areas know what the fock is the deal. Hold them accountable to take care of themselves since they are making the choice. Same with snow, tornados, and earthquakes. Let the locals take care of their choices. That's why we have state governments and electoral voting.

Great post by you.

Temps aren’t rising globally?

It is true some glaciers are expanding, others are shrinking.

I agree that there isn’t much to disagree on about the temps in the GoM. It’s just what it is.

Adaptation will happen if we like it or not. I would include in that attempting to change things that cause the problems.

When you have a lot of money why not live in the Hamptons, Martha’s Vineyard, Malibu (think the rich folk line up on the bluffs there tho) etc.

I think they’ll be just fine if they lose the 3rd house.

A large bulk of the population of Florida evacuating this storm is on westbound I-10 right now causing one of the worst traffic jams I've ever been in. I was riding my brake the whole time. My usual 45 minute commute home took 2:25 today.

We're projected to miss this hurricane entirely.

You have no idea how this works do you, you poor little thing. I'm guessing you're a Yankee and not used to how hurricane evacuations work.

I live in NC, but no I have never had to evacuate for a hurricane.  Does the government provide free flights, gas and hotel stays?

Harris/ Biden can fly illegals in from Haiti and other shitthole countries but they can’t fly people out of Florida in an emergency?  They have an Air Force.

Here's a livestream of some Florida locations if you want to see the hurricane roll in today.

I’m sure your argument is “yeah but this spending is to get them out!”

Sure, but I’m confident he could have done that for a lot less money.

Also, is @Maximum Overkill telling the truth that the government provides free gas, flights, and hotels for people under a mandatory evacuation?
