FYI: You got worms and TrailGuyBoyo White-Knighting you in here.  Did you offer them a handy or something?

I've seen her hand after her surgery, that would be... painful!  :o

Hey @OldMaid good to have you back.

You weren’t wrong. You were right. It was the public that got it wrong.

Good to see you are on the road to self-reflection of what the Democratic Party might have missed.

She still has a good hand, though, right?  Well, in any event, the good news is that worms and TrailGuyBoyo both have vaginas so she doesn't have to worry any pain.

Why you always assuming stuff, Strike?  Maybe I lost it in an unfortunate masturbating incident with a chainsaw.

I try to be optimistic, and I wouldn't wish such a fate on anyone, especially someone I might try to wager a handy out of at some point.

I started streaming Dexter recently, so unfortunately, I can get a bit of a mental image of this.  :o

How far through it are you?  I watched the last few episodes of Season 2 last night.   They just happened to be on.   Some of the seasons were kind of weak but it started off very strong.  There are two spin off series coming out soon so you better hurry up!

I think I'm about where you are -- definitely season 2, about double digit episode so I'm guessing near the end.  Rudy has recreated Dexter's blood psycho scene as a kid.

I wasn't sure when I first started watching it, but generally these kinds of shows come down to the other characters for me.  Dex is Dex, but I kinda like the development of his sister, Angel, Doakes, LaGuerta.  I don't love the Rita character, I'll be interested if she survives.

They missed winning the election.

Certainly, the DNC exists to win elections, and they failed.  The question is:  why do you think they failed?  If your answer is to go back to the old Obama mistake of "we didn't communicate it well enough," then I respectfully submit that you missed the point.

I've actually seen all seasons.  Showtime just happened to have on Episode 10 of season 2 last night, and it got me wanting to see the last two episodes of that season so I streamed them.  Definitely some interesting characters on the show.  I like the narration of Dexter's thought processes.  Overall, a solid show with a couple of slow seasons.  There's a season with John Lithgow that is amazing if you finish all the seasons.

You’ve missed the forest for trees.

I highly doubt I would be going over all their actions looking for a "gotcha" on why they weren’t here immediately if the roles were reversed. I’d just go back to giving them sh!t.

the forest for trees?     I don't doubt that's how you would act, I guess I'm a little "lost in the forest" as to why you think this isn't just people giving you shit ...?

I am admittedly not reading every post in full detail, but who is looking for a "gotcha"?  This all seemed pretty cut and dry.  You spoke with great bravado about Kamala winning and also about being here on election night to console certain posters. You spoke with enough panache that people noticed and when you were not here, at least the day after, they took you to task. You showed up over a week later saying you'll eat your crow but blaming it on a hangover and wrist surgery.

I don't personally buy it. I think you'd have been posting here on election night, from your watch party, if the outcome had been looking different.  jmho... but not meant to be a gotcha. In fact, I think people are just giving you shit about your excuses rather than looking for some sort of gotcha.

There’s a lot of things I think they did wrong and on some of them we probably agree.

But none of it really matters, because in the end the Democrats are the OTHER PARTY.  They may become more centrist next time around (which I personally would prefer) or they may go more leftist or they may stay the same. And none of it makes a whit of difference. If the public is happy with the economy 4 years from now the Republicans will win again. If the public is unhappy with the economy the Democrats will win. The formula is pretty simple.

I admit it has taken me a while, really my whole life, to figure this out. What impressed me most about this election is that Trump ignored all of his advisors who told him to stay on track and appear moderate. Instead during the campaign he just kept saying crazier and crazier sh!t. A lot of it was truly embarrassing. In the end the public paid no attention. Per the exit polling, they voted for Trump because they didn’t like the current state of affairs and he was the alternative. Me, I was hung up on positive vs negative messaging and comparing Kamala’s positive rhetoric to JFK, Reagan and Obama. I forgot that all 3 of those were the alternative to the government that was then in power. Kamala was doomed because she wasn’t new, she was tied to Biden.

So from now on when I look at Presidential elections I’m going to use a simple formula:

1. If things are perceived as going good, the party in power will be re-elected.

2. if things are perceived as going badly, the opposite party will win.

3. If one party has served for 8 years or longer it’s very likely the opposite party wins whether or not things are going good or bad, simply because after a while the public hungers for something new.

And that’s it. Those 3 rules seem to work no matter what the specific policies are, no matter who is running.

Ok, I am going to address this for the last and final time. For realz, I hope.

Yes, I was obnoxious leading up to the election. Yes, I thought Kamala would win, but also I was being over the top on purpose.

I had planned to be here on election night, but our friends (a couple we spend a lot of time with) called us late Tuesday afternoon and asked if we wanted to order dinner and come over to watch the results.

I do not post on my phone when out with people. It’s rude and I don’t do it. The Geek Club is not more important than my friends.

I was hungover as hell on Wednesday. Could I have checked in? Sure, but I didn’t feel up to it, so get over it. Already admitted that was a pvssy move.

I had surgery first thing Thursday morning. My hand was put in a splint that came halfway up to my elbow and only allowed the very tips of my fingers to peek out. It didn’t come off until last Thursday night.

I don’t think any of this would have changed if Kamala had won. I know for a fact I still wouldn’t have posted on election night. Maybe I would have on Wednesday, but I doubt it. I don’t tend to spend time online when I don’t feel well. I guess we’ll never know.

Sorry if any of you feel cheated out of gloating.

Now get over it.

Awesome, thanks!  Great idea to basically not be introspective, stay with the same losing strategy, blame the populace for being idiots, and subscribe to the definition of insanity which is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Personally, I'd rather a healthy-ish center-left party to compete with a (hopefully) center-right party, but if you want to throw the gun and give up, so be it.  :dunno:

Lol well here’s the other thing, Jerry. What I think about this doesn’t make a bit of difference. I have no influence whatsoever regarding the Democratic Party and never will (and never want to either.) So maybe they’ll take your advice. Or not.

My wife and I have a few threads going on together, but Dexter is my personal one I use for home gym workouts and stretching.  I have no qualms stopping before the end on those, and moving on to something else.

Huh?

It’s not even political.

It’s hounding another poster to admit they were wrong, then they show up and admit, then they admit it a couple more times for good measure, and yet you’re still hounding them…
