The thing with abortion is that it isn't mentioned in the cosntitution. SCOTUS just fabricated a ruling wholecloth out of nothing in 1973 and pretended it was there.

That's different than birthright citizenship. It is mentioned specifically in the constitution.

Liberal justices start with the results they want then twist the Constitution into whatever form they want it to take or just ignore it's plain writing outright for expediency purposes.  Conservative justices do not do things that way. I agree that the birthright citizenship is BS but it IS there, it is addressed, and just ignoring the wording to achieve the outcome you want is acting like a sh*tbag liberal "living document" scumball. The conservatives on the court have too much respect for the Constitution to pull that.

Yes but you have to look at the purpose of the amendment when it was passed.  In this case, the purpose of the amendment had nothing to do with immigration.  It was enacted after the end of slavery to make it clear that slaves who had been freed were American Citizens.

Also on the tariff stuff.  

China likes to subsidize their exports.  In other words, in some cases they pay for part of the cost of the goods sold to get the industry floated.  China will not allow their GDP to shrink.  It's a game of chicken.  

China regularly steals US intellectual property.  China regularly imposes unfair business practices on foreign businesses.  What they do is they force any country that wants to sell foreign goods in China to make huge investments in China or force them to be partially owned by China.  Then the Chinese steal all of the IP and create a knock off version of the product.  

The DoD doesn't even let us source parts from China because they are wrought with counterfeits and are shady as hell.

It's worth getting into a staring contest with China over this.  The trade relationship is completely one sided and will help China eventually eat our lunch.  We need chip manufacturers onshore and we need to stop letting China take advantage of us like we're some pitiful helpless giant and they're not a threat to us.  

Tariffs are a tool to help renegotiate their shìtty trade deals that they cheat on constantly anyway.

I think this might be more detailed and thought out than Trump’s plan. He just knew it was a great campaign issue.

I can't really disagree with that. I'd be happy if he seriously addressed removing those illegal aliens who have proven to be criminal types. Even if it's non-violent crime.

Sorry, but enough’s enough.  When they started using the Justice Department as a weapon that ended any chance for compromise in my opinion.  Tell your friends and family to get on the bus, or risk being underneath it.

We'll see how it goes. Criminals and welfare recipients first. Personally, I'd be willing to stop there, rather than chase down Aunt Lupe if she's minding her own business.

I'm curious to see if Trump puts his money where his mouth is in regard to states' rights.

OK, so he's all for those states' rights when it comes to abortion, but what about deportation, gay marriage, social programs, taxes, etc.

Political retribution is the can of worms they already opened. President Trump doesn't seem inclined to be very magnanimous about it or letting bygones be bygones and I can't say I blame him after all the artificially fabricated sh*t they put him through personally.

I completely agree with the idea if you are here illegally and you get caught doing a crime you are out. I’d maybe parse what type of crime but that is a debate worth having.

People who came here and are working doing their thing and don’t have car tabs up to date well I can debate that.

Of course anyone doing drug related crimes, stealing, etc…you are bounced.

How will Trump supporters respond when the tariffs result in massive inflation and business closings.

They were more than happy to blame Biden for recent inflation and business closings whose fault predominantly lies in simple supply-and-demand economics.

Are those Trump supporters ready for the inflation and business closings that the president's actions actually caused?

I know a couple that celebrated their 9-year-old daughter's announcement that she thinks she's a boy. They were being all trendy despite the daughter likely having no grass on the field. Disgusting. 

And focking taxpayer dollars shouldn't cover gender-affirming care.

I hadn’t seen any costs but yeah I’d think it’s very, very high.

Like much of what Trump says I think it’s probably bullshit he throws it at the wall sees what sticks and just goes with that. Then he acts like a little betch when people take him seriously. Quickly moves onto the next self promoting issue.

Immigration is a national issue.  It's one of the few designated federal responsibilities in the Constitution.  He shouldn't treat it as a state's rights issue.

I've seen the numbers. It's almost $1 trillion. And how realistic is it to expect that the deportees won't just slither their way back in?

He said he'd end the war in Ukraine in a day. So should we expect it to be over Jan. 21? 

I want a stronger military. I want lower taxes. I want smaller federal government. 

I'd like to see his second presidency be less noisy than his first, but I fear it's going to be even more chaotic. 

The world is watching.

Abortion is a national issue. The Constitution addresses that just as much as it does immigration.

I was at the Barnes & Noble yesterday and I asked the clerk if they had Donald Trump's new book on how to deport illegal immigrants.

She said, "Get the fock out of here and don't come back."  I said, "Yes, that's the one. Do you have it in paperback?"

Here’s the deal: the main reason that Trump won so resoundingly is because inflation. The public wants prices to come down and didn’t believe Harris could do it. They don’t give a crap about retribution. I know you do but they don’t. 
If Trump focuses on retribution he may make conservatives like you happy but for most people it will be regarded as overreach. Right now Trump has real opportunities to put through some things that conservatives have always believed will benefit the country, like deregulation and a transformed energy policy. Now is your chance. Dont blow it on revenge or Democrats will take control right back.

The federal government has the power and the responsibility to control our borders, and regulate immigration. 
But as regards undocumented immigrants already here? I’m not sure they have the legal right to deal with that. They certainly don’t have the right to force local authorities to cooperate with them. 
 

Example: let’s say next year the head of ICE demands that the chief of police of San Francisco turn over lists of all persons living there suspected to be undocumented immigrants, so that they can begin deportation. The Chief of police says “sorry but Governor Newsom has instructed me to refuse to give you that information.” It goes to court and ultimately to the Supreme Court. Who wins? I suspect the state of California wins.

#1 - Trump recently came out with a policy to END Gender Affirming Care.  He's going to cut all funding, make it illegal, and set up a victims fund to sue doctors.  He wants to pass a bill that defines only two genders MALE and FEMALE assigned at birth!!!

Why it's a concern:

- my kids have gender dysphoria and I'm afraid they won't be able to be the sex they truly are that makes them happy! 

- only having two genders immediately discriminates against all my friends that are BTQRZ.

- I fear that this will empower hatred towards the alphabet community.

This is probably true but would be a big win for Trump IMO. Gets to say he tried.

Now places that went along with him I think would be a disaster. People are picturing dudes with face tattoos being dragged out in cuffs. This would not be the case.
