Kopy 528 Posted November 11 Some serious meltdowns going on out there. You guy's lose any friends or family members? My address book has gotten considerably lighter. But for a Trump presidency part 2. Along with a unified congress. It was/is definitely worth it. I'd float my Trump banner all over again no questions asked. You guy's? My dad and I argue politics all the time, since we can speak our mind and won't hold grudges. Sometimes one of us just has to say "we're done talking about this" and we talk about something else. I don't socialize with many people that will admit to voting for Trump, but I do have a ton of family that did. I'm not going to stop talking to them over it. Those bonds are way stronger than political leanings.

easilyscan 693 Posted November 12 Lost a couple leading up to the 2020 election. One of my best childhood friends told me that anyone who even considered voting for Trump is a NOT-Z Also attacked some mutual friends saying they were nothing more than hillbillies. Haven't spoken since.

supermike80 1,566 Posted November 12 My wifes sister, brother and father are liberals. Took me a while to flip her but shes a republican now. They dont love it but they respect her choice. As we do with theirs. Kinda how it should be
Voltaire 4,865 Posted November 12 I worried that my eldest daughter (17) could be sucked into the leftoid cult because she is pro-choice (not for herself personally, for others though) and has a great affinity for your usual name brand elitist leftoid spewing universities, but fortunately she supports Donald Trump and has a great affinity for Tulsi Gabbard. Son (15) is conservtive and my wife is furthest right in the family. The youngest one is 11 this stuff isn't on the radar yet.

jerryskids 6,095 Posted November 12 My older daughter is a bit distraught, but nothing that will destroy our family or anything. She has drunk a bit of the Tik Tok koolaid, and will figure it out in time. Her older brother, my son, is the most conservative of anyone in our family, and likes to troll his younger sister. I plan to see him before our Thanksgiving get-together and slap him in the haid to communicate that such trolling won't be acceptable. On another note, a few weeks ago my wife and I went out with our neighbors, and on the way home, we learned that the neighbor wife was on billboards for "conservatives against Trump" or something similar. I golfed with the guy today, and at some point asked how his wife was handling it. He said OK, and then said something about being afraid of WW3. I responded that that was one of the things I felt most sure that Trump would handle better than Harris. That ended the political talk. 1

TBayXXXVII 2,364 Posted November 12 I have one cousin who had this massive rant on Facebook. It's comedic gold. She unfriended every conservative she had. I never post on Facebook, but I love reading those meltdowns. I never really talk to her that much though... never really have. Nothing to do with politics, just that my family is so big that little pockets get created. Other than that, I really don't have any friends who are Democrats. Just happened organically. listen2me 23 1,745 Posted November 12 I know nothing of this. Many of my immediate friends are at least on the conservative side. My family is fairly 50 50. People in my community are fairly conservative but there is a decent mix. I dont lose friends over politics. The liberals here are fairly normal. They arent the big city blue haired sky screamer freaks. Im sure some people I know took it hard. But you wouldnt know it by any sort of dramatic reactions. It's nice to hear honest opinions from those you may disagree politically with. Helps to reinforce the fact that Americans have a lot more in common with each other than not.
