I kind of like the theory I saw here TBH. Gaetz is a grade one top shelf Trump nuthugger, was with him through thick and thin. Gaetz was about to get put on blast for being a creep in this report. Trump picks him for this spot, he resigns from Congress, report no longer comes out. If he somehow gets through the nom process then great for Don if not Matt gets to go into lobbying or what not.

Yeah I think it’s most likely an effort to paint the Democrats as obstructionist or so-called “moderate” republicans as “reasonable” because they’re allowed to vote a few of them with democrats to vote down the nomination.

Dems shouldn’t take the bait. I’d just say “hey it’s his cabinet” and vote “present” or whatever. Make the republicans own this and every other focking mess.

Trump has been found guilty, but until he is sentenced his trial is not yet complete and therefore he is technically not yet a convicted felon. It is a minor technicality in some ways, in others quite important since the judge can set aside the jury's verdict.
