I’m going to give some credit, amazingly enough, to @Hardcore troubadour. Because he is the only one of you guys  who actually tried to argue that the tariffs will produce positive results for this country. He’s totally wrong of course but at least he tried. The rest of you didn’t bother. You either focused on irrelevancies, claimed you didn’t care about regular people, or spewed ignorance and personal insults. Really embarrassing but I’ve come to expect it.

- tariffs raise the prices for consumers. They are inherently inflationary.

- when you place tariffs on an ally and key trading partner you erode trust.  Our allies are quickly losing faith that America will continue to be a reliable world leader.

- By raising prices you punish your own citizens by taking money out of their pockets.  Additionally you open yourself up to retaliation which has happened and will further expose your own citizens to closing trade routes.

Tariffs didn't work the first time trump tried them and they won't work now.  Trump is a weak petty small man who doesn't understand what he's doing.

I am a business finance guy by trade and accounting background. I do pretty well, at least enough to support my family and gambling habits.   What I am not is an International Tariff Expert. 

Here are my questions. Do we really import that many goods from Canada and Mexico?  Besides Marple Syrup and Fentanyl?   Or are we just propping them up like Sugar Daddy's this whole time?
