NFL Week 14

Recommended Posts

It was a good win but I don't think Campbell can keep taking those chances in the playoffs.   Sometimes you just need to concede (punt the damn ball) and let your defense do it's job.

The call on Watson for pick to take the go ahead TD off thr board was pretty bad.  Then the Lions on thr next drive run a clear pick play and just no flag to be found.

Thing is Campbell knows when to go and when to hold back.   He won't take unnecessary chances in the playoffs when moving on is on the line.   Hes a pretty darn good coach.

I was at a Chamber breakfast yesterday, and former K-State, Jets, Lions and Chiefs safety Jon McGraw was the speaker.  Talking about emotional intelligence, getting your dopamine up, going out in the morning for 5-10 minutes for direct sunlight, cold showers, blah blah blah.  But he talked about playing with Campbell and his success a little.  His track record to this point is pretty good.

As much as I hate to see the Packers lose, I respect Campbell and don’t feel terrible about it. He’s doing a tremendous job.

I was more ticked about the St. Brown push off at the end that picked up 16 on 2-17.

Still a really good game & effort by the team.  Starting without Alexander and Cooper, I didn't think we had a chance but the D was doing pretty well. The loss of Williams and Bullard in the 2nd half though was pretty much it. I don't think we stopped the Lions once after that.  MLF should have called some screens and quick hitters too - seemed the Lions were sending 6 every passing down.

it's impossible for them to see everything, but it definitely looked like a push off to me :dunno:

The pick I was refering to was on the last drive.  I saw a video on X.  Its a clear pick more so than running into a guy and totally frees the rb for an easy catch.  Not even a mention on tv about it.  Clear.  Yet the other pick just 4 minutes earlier calls a td back.  The pick rules are definitely tricky.  I understand its on the offense to try and avoid contact.  But even Watson said, it wasnt even a rub play.  He was on the backside.  He was running his route.  I dont like the clear pick play.  But some of those crossers down in thr endzone its just tough to totally avoid guys.   But whatever im not claiming refs robbed GB of a win.  It would just be cool to get the same call 4 minutes later that doesnt even take points off the board.  That was the play that Lafleur was losing hid mind on the ref who left thr game fot a bit.

I know Detroit was very banged up defensively.   But I thought GB played their B- game.

If you go look at the team stats box score, its pretty interesting.   GB much higher yards per play which is usually a telling stat.  Then Detroit was just sustaining drives.  Maximizing drives.  Detroit had 4 4th down conversions out of 5.  GB saw 5 3rd downs all game.  Converting 1.  And 0 4th down tries.  Thats wild.

It's interesting.  GB had a great drive to lead off the second half.  Like 8 runs and one pass.   I know they were down but that seemed like the method to beat the Lions.  With their D line so banged up, I figured GB would just run run run and dink and doink with the passing game.  24 rushing plays.  I mean that's not tiny, but it isn't a lot either.  Seemed they would rush more, especially once they found out how weak the Lions were on the line.

And I agree...I think GB didn't bring their A game.

My bad..That big run drive happened near the end of the first half.  Not the start of the second

Jordan Love cost them that game. If he just showed up for the first half they'd of won easily.

The one at the 32 yard line yes, the one at the end of the game, no. That was the right call. I didn't want Jordan Love getting another shot with 45 seconds left; that was too much time. The way the game was going, it was looking like overtime (or worse). Green Bay had what was left of the D solved and winded and they weren't stopping anyone. Best let the offense carry the team, and risk the stop, in order to kill the clock.

Lions will be tough to beat.  I dont think they necessarily played their best game either.  Home field will be big in this matchup going forward.  Packers I feel can play with or beat anyone.  They just seem notch below thr Lions and Philly at the moment.  The defense will have to create turnovers and the passing game has to come out from the start ready to rock in order to win these 2 matchups.  31 pass yards in the first half will be tough to make work vs teams thats can get out in front.

24 rushes out of what 47 total plays..

Love needs to develop a quicker passing game.  I admire thr fact that he keeps his eyes down field and stays aggressive.   But there is too much throw it 18 yards down field on 3rd and 5.  For as good as Lafleur is, not enough is coming easy at the moment.

huge fantasy implications today with a chiefs/ chargers wrap.

The NBC SNF crew was in my hometown the other day filming an 8-man football championship so that'll get some coverage later.  The school they were shooting at is actually where I graduated college from.

Won't be watching a whole lot of noon games though, as KU/MU plays at noon and I'm not missing that

I was unhappy about the Eagles poor performance against Carolina until I watched the Bills lose to a Rams team Philly curb stomped a few weeks back.

Those tackles leaning back early need to be called for false starts.

Missing wide open wr’s isn’t good defense.

Both teams are definitely struggling on offense.   Chiefs have challenges at tackle and so many injuries at receiver.   And the Chargers are missing Dobbins and ladd, and now maybe Herbert.   But I'm encouraged by the d finally stepping up.

Got my wild card and divisional round tickets.   Wild card were $90 each (fees and tax included), and divisional round $110 each and I'm row 25, about halfway up in the upper deck on the visitor side 30.  Took two years from getting bent over on first-year ticket prices but fock that's really reasonable.
