Drinking & Cooking

Recommended Posts

So, I’m a wannabe home chef.  My cooking is def above average.  I make everything from scratch.  As I’ve aged I find that I get drunk more often when cooking than any other time.
Far cry from the days of intentionally getting blitzed on the weekend.

I’m usually too busy when cooking, to down a bunch of booze :dunno:

I don’t find it difficult to drink some wine or a cocktail while chef-ing it up.

I would never trust a cook who can't manage taking a sip of water or beer or wine because they are so tied up with the cooking process. Sounds like they are over their heads in what they are doing.

Another way in which we are matched; I do the same thing. I follow a chef on Substack and The NY Times cooking; get a LOT of ideas from there.

I follow Damaris Phillips, as much for her chefing as wanting to mate with her, and I take ideas from Nadia G and Natasha’s Kitchen.  With NK I often tweak her recipes to put my own spin on things.

ETA:  also the perfect Molly Yeh…

I like to have a game on the tv while having a drinking and making supper.  That's a solid night.
