The Christmas movie thread

Recommended Posts

We all know the classics, though feel free to throw your favorites out there for posterity.

This year I’ve watched A Christmas Story Christmas, which was pretty good! Heartwarming and nostalgic without going too far into eye rolling schlock. Definitely recommend it.

Also, watched Klaus with my kids. They loved it and it was pretty good. Definitely a good one for the family,

Finally, Jingle Jangle. It was a steaming pile of garbage. Do not trust the reviews on this one!

Another pretty good recent one was Spirited. I did not think I would like it but it turned out to be a modern classic imo.

Ok geeks, let’s hear your favorites of recent times and all time

Last Christmas with the Khaleesi chick from GoT was decent too. Gotta stick with it though

We watch White Christmas every Christmas Eve with our family...or at least it is on in the background that night.

We went to see Elf at the movies last night. Everyone sang at the end. Was incredible to see that movie with all those families. 💕

You’ve never seen A Christmas Story before??? :o

Since you like horror movies, check out Black Christmas from 1971 by the same director. It’s a little dated but still awesome.

Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott are my favorites. 🎄

A couple of lesser known off beat movies...

Merry Friggin Christmas - Streaming on Tubi - Robin Williams, Joel McCale - Funny

Krampus - Peacock, Horror/Comedy, good stuff

Noelle - Disney - Heartwarming and sappy

All is Bright - Prime, Paul Rudd and Paul Giamatti tree salesmen in NYC.  Dark comedy, drama.

{Posty Words} I have never seen either of them. Other than them being on in the background on Christmas. Never sat and actually paid attention.

Its a Wonderful Life

I actually hate this movie SO much. I think it's because I was forced to watch as a kid several times.

Is it ponderous at times, yes.  Does Jimmy Stewart overact in some scenes, yes.   Do other actors overact in some scenes, certainly.  Still, Donna Reed is the perfect woman and in the end it has a sweet, if perhaps too sacrine message.  Still, its pace, and that it is in black and white and relies on no transforming robots, gun play, fetishism or nudity, and has no aliens is refreshing to me.  I get it though, definitely not for everybody.

Don’t apologize for it man, It’s A Wonderful Life is a great focking film. It’s a classic for a reason

It has a Christmas party, Christmas trees, decorations, Argyle saying at the end “If this is their idea of Christmas, I can’t wait until New Years…” (or something very close to this…)

I watched the 1938 version of A Christmas Carol tonight. I’ve seen it before but it’s been a long time. Anyway, it was pretty good and not so damn long like some of them are

I’ve seen Trading Places so many times that I can quote every line in that movie. “When you came in here, you were crying like a poosay”.  Big black guy “yeahhh”.😁
