Nope, he said he wants austerity and it will result in economic problems.  Listen to what he says.

We need to keep spending money to keep the govt going.  This temporary bill is not the way to cut spending.

Any meaningful spending cuts would involve some major reform, something that neither party has been interested in doing the past 20 years so don't even start about being fiscally responsible.

wahhhh we dont need to keep the govt spending

go live in ukraine, you'd get far more from the current govt

and youre right no party has done it, and I wonder why, even when you have a team trying to do something people like you cry and cry

Phantom misses the irony of his cries of “it’s a Republican bill” and “neither party has been interested in doing anything the past 20 years”.  It’s like we’re supposed to just gobble up what bureaucrats say because they have an R. Many Rs are running scared for a reason, it’s because they’re uniparty. Waste is waste.

The Senate on Wednesday passed the National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA, a massive defense spending package that includes a ban on coverage of gender-affirming care for the transgender children of military service members.

Ah, the Leftie media using the kind-sounding "gender-affirming care" when they mean medically transing the kids.

Quote

Over 20 Democratic senators, led by Sen. Tammy Baldwin, of Wisconsin, sought to amend the bill Monday to remove language that would ban the military's health care service, Tricare, from covering “medical treatment for military dependents under the age of 18 who are diagnosed with gender dysphoria.”

So, banning medical transing of military kids only is "eliminating transgender care"?

Gutterboy wanted to demonstrate his lack of understanding about how our government works so he started a thread based on the premise that a non-elected South African can shut down the United States government.

That's exactly what happened.  Of course you're not smart enough to understand that.

I suppose I should have clarified more and added "for military kids".  Didn't anticipate someone looking for a gotcha, so congrats.

Except it doesnt ban medical care for trans kids;. It bans UNNECESSARY medical procedures for trans kids.   If they break an arm I have faith they will be attended to.

What’s interesting to me is that Trump has no apparent objection to any aspect of the bill. Per his Truth Social post he just wants to add increasing the debt ceiling limit (which expires next summer.)

 Wow.

Solely for political purposes, wants it increased under Biden.

Trump was fine with the bill until President Musk strong armed him and mind focked him into objecting to it.

The other interesting thing is that Mike Johnson has apparently spent the last two weeks consulting closely with Trump while the negotiations for this bill was going on. Trump’s team, including Musk, knew about all aspects of this bill and could have vetoed any aspect during the negotiations. So why kill it at the last second? Remember that Trump killed a spending bill in the last second during his first term, causing a government shutdown for 60 days; he then abruptly surrendered to the Democrats without gaining anything he demanded. This situation will likely end the same way.

In short: this is less about Trump’s principles regarding wasteful spending (he doesn’t have any) and more about his utter incompetence in his role as leader of the GOP, which hasn’t improved over time.

They definitely take a gleefulness in the idea of blowing things up. For many conservatives that is a big part of Trump’s appeal.

But see when sh!t like this goes down it’s never the stupid stuff that suffers. It’s always the folks who really need their checks that don’t get them, like retired pensioners, VA, etc. The stupid stuff goes right on being stupid.

And as I wrote earlier, this will end in a complete surrender by Trump and the Republicans. It may take a day or two, or it may go on for a few months. But in the end all the useless government you hate will be restored and any losses will be reimbursed with interest just like last time. You do realize this right?

Who "really needs their checks" and are not getting them? Where are these people? Are they you?

Happy holidays!

So, does this count as misinformation that should be banned?

Hey White power dude the grownups are talking here.

Well, you are racist and want people put into positions because of their skin color. Who's the racist?

You also pay illegals slave wages which is against the law.

Now tell us, who are the people who aren't getting their pay checks? Are they the ones you bypass to hire cheap, illegal, labor?

Except you're not talking like a grown up.  A grown up would acknowledge that a "continuing resolution" shouldn't be 1500 pages and contain massive new spending, not to mention a massive salary increase for Congress.  A grown up would understand that people missing checks is a small part of the issue and directly attributable to how bad this CR is.  So no, you're not one of the grown ups talking here.

You have no idea what you want and don’t want. And if you think the public truly wants to cut spending guess again.

Still arguing for principles that have nothing to with why this bill has been halted and nothing to do with how it’s going to be eventually resolved.
