2025 New Year's Resolutions

Recommended Posts

My new year's resolutions are:

To start getting to work early and leave early like everyone else here.
To work out regularly.
To travel more, even if just locally.
To cook at home more.
To spend less time on Instagram.
To really dedicate myself to learning Spanish, French and Chinese.

Are there any resolutions you'd like to share?

I've never been one to indulge in New Year's resolutions. I think, if you want to do something, do it. No need to make a big deal out of it. :dunno:

My "NYR's" have always been something superfluous, like, "to drink more this year than I did last year."

However, lately, I've kind of seen the reasoning behind making a public proclamation, as it can kind of serve as motivation to maintain whatever it is you resolve to do. Because you've basically publicly shamed yourself if you don't.

So this year, I resolve to be more organized, as organized people are, generally, more successful.

Also, I resolve to drink more this year than I did last year.

You can learn languages for free online on at a government website for all of their agencies. All of the ones I have looked at on the site are amazing. Over fifty languages. And they rank them for easy to hardest. On a scale of them, Arabic, Chinese, were the most difficult. I tried to learn, but it was hard. Really hard. English and Russian were next for difficulty. Spanish, French, and some others were right below them in category. What’s the difficult part is learning some to read. Arabic, Russian, and Chinese, Japanese are all hard. I can’t look for it right now, I think it’s foreign languages.gov

I think that trying to learn 3 languages is setting yourself up for failure.  Pick one.

🤔 3 meals a day 7 days a week. Just curious, how many of those do you not cook at home?

I get Indian or Chinese food a lot. I also have Factor Meals delivered once a month. I use them for lunch. Hence, I rarely cook these days.

I've just been "learning" them on Duolingo. I had French and Spanish in high school/college. I just picked up the Chinese on the Duolingo app. It's fun to learn all three, but it's not significant learning. I will take them all more seriously this year. I will mostly focus on the Spanish.
