TrailGuy 249 Posted January 2 Sounds rather dumb and arbitrary almost like it's not for health reasons. I'm tired of all these dumb challenges, dry whatever, no nut this or that. Why not just make healthy choices and stop with the silly of extreme time boxed rules?

I don't preseent it to others on youtube or tic tok nor do I encourage others to join me. Just something i do to clear out my lungs and kidneys and liver before engaging in yet another year of profligate debauchery which is my natural and preferred state. i note that the coughing usually starts around 1 week in and it takes until about the sixth week to hack all the stuff out of my lungs. I find i start processing fat a bit more efficiently around the sixth week as well and usually can drop a bit of weight the last few weeks of this. Just passed 60 hours and already the withdrawal from tobacco is easing, though the weekend is now upon me and the first weekend or two can be challenging. I pretty much have resolved that I cannot go out for a weekend or two. Also, I notice that already my truck does not smell of cigarettes.

I have relapsed hard in my nicotine usage, but using these products does not leave me feeling like I do after smoking cigars/cigarettes. Draft weekend was always especially egregious, where I would go weeks or months without tobacco but then chain smoked for 48 hours. I switched to vapes and I no longer get the headaches or vicious cough I had with smoked tobacco. I will not claim they are safer, simply that they do not have the same deleterious short term effects.

Dew, Blue Bunny or Ben and Jerry's. No Cheese. I do allow myself Fage zero sugar yogurt. I also get eggs, salt, tobasco, and wheat and rye flour. Also the bags of beans I buy technically have a brand name but they are in no way processed.

I switched to vapes and I no longer get the headaches or vicious cough I had with smoked tobacco. I will not claim they are safer, simply that they do not have the same deleterious short term effects. In the last 55 years of smoking I have stopped for 5 years once and two years once. I also managed six months a few times. In the end I always return. Even after the five year stint I still was a smoker in my dreams. I have no illusions about the damage I have done and the cancer risks. I do know this, however, after taking a time out for 2000 hours my blood oxygen goes up and my chest x-rays look better to my doc and she does not hear the pre-emphysema rattle in my lungs. Also, when I inevitably return to smoking I do so at reduced levels, at first. I don't get to the worst of it for several months and then I start over. At first a half pack a day seems to suffice for a couple of months until I ratchet it up, inexorably to a pack a day or more. Getting off caffeine is always a week long headache. After, though, I end up drinking a lot more water which is good, it gets things flushed out, a bit. I did try vapes for a bit. I may go back to them. Not as expensive or stinky as smoking. nobody 2,482 Posted January 4 I applaud the initiative. I don't believe people should live life in such a way that the sole purpose is prolonging the life. What's the point of living if you can't do anything? Just live. Do what you want and then die. May be a touch nihilistic, but I guess that's the natural pull of a non-religious existence. I mean, making an effort to eat healthy is always commendable and i'm not downing on it. Just sounds a little arbitrary. It is completely arbitrary. I never maintained my efforts strictly complied with the general guidelines or discription of what I do. I was asked what i do. I summarized, generally as there are no hard and fast rules to this other than no smoking. Thus far, coming up on hour 70 I have had no cigarettes or cigars, nor have I smoked anything else. I have consumed no alcohol or drugs. I have consumed no caffeine. I have eaten eggs ,salmon, chicken (skinless) broccoli, spinich, pineapple, green beans, peas, cantalope. oranges, onion, and carrots. Tomorrow morning I am likely to have one of the three yogurts i have left in the frig before I head out to work out. I am planning a spinich salad for lunch with smoked salmon (I know one could argue that is processed but in this case I smoked it), pineapple, blue berries, onion, broccoli, pea pods and whateveer else is laying around in the fridge. The Packer game will be tough on me as generally I like to watch with a few beers, a few cigarettes or a cigar, some buffalo wings, and a bit of blow if they win. As that does not comport with my current effort I am going to have to struggle through.

This is just a shade under 12 weeks, not two. As for noticing effects, nothing as far as intoxication. I do notice I can breath better at the end and I sleep better after a week or so. When I finish I always notice how sweet tobacco smells before you light it, something that goes away in a day or so but something that reminds me of way back when I first started smoking.
