The opening match will air on ESPN and ESPN+ live from SoFi Center, on the campus of Palm Beach State College, where TGL presented by SoFi begins at the nearly 250,000-square-foot arena designed to host a new, fast-paced team golf competition featuring some of the biggest names in the sport.

In case you need a quick primer on how it works, let's dive into the basics of a match.

TGL Explained
Three players from each team will go head-to-head in a 15-hole match featuring two different formats – nine holes of Triples and six holes of Singles – across a selection of custom-designed holes.

Triples is an alternate-shot format where players will take turns teeing off from hole-to-hole and rotate hitting shots until the hole is finished. Individual players will go head-to-head in a predetermined rotation over the six Singles holes. Each team member will play two Singles holes so, for example, the two players who square off on hole No. 10 will face each other again in Singles on hole No. 13.

Every hole is worth one point unless the Hammer is played (more on that below). The team with the most points at the end of the match wins.

The Bay Golf Club holds the honor on Tuesday and will start with the Hammer, which raises the stakes of a hole by one point when played and accepted. The other team then takes possession of the Hammer and could choose to throw it on the same hole, making the hole worth three points, or hold on to it until later in the match.

I like the Ryder Cup. I was fine with LIV.   I'm talking about all the golf fans who were anti LIV and one of the things they always said was the format was stupid. Not just shotgun start but the teams.

Actually I don't care for the Presidents Cup.   I know they wont ever change the Ryder because of history and prestige but the US gets their asses kicked on the regular and then for whatever reason it has to be USA vs the other countries for the Presidents. I guess we need to beat up on a few Asians and South Africans to make ourselves feel better

But many people on this board were and many golf fans in general.   I am all for upsetting the establishment and I also hate hypocrisy.  That's why I have found all the reactionary moves by the PGA to be laughable. The elevated events, for example.   And I know this is not PGA but TGL is run in partnership with the PGA and created by their two biggest names. 

If it's a fun watch, i'll watch.  

Still going to point out the hypocrisy.   I think these guys are just pissed they missed the LIV boat and Monohan lied to them so they are creating another revenue stream for themselves and a select few.

They would give Tiger a billion to join too.  Tiger likely doesn't care because he's Tiger and prestige matters the most to him at this stage in his career.

Rumor has it there are quite a few PGA guys that regret not taking the LIV money. Hatton got lucky and got a 2nd chance

LA team is up 5 and they concede a 10 foot putt to Tigers team to give them 2 points. It’s obviously fixed to keep it going and interesting 

but they have to push this hard.

It was 2 putts to win and only one point. Theegala’s tee shot went into the penalty area and Rose was hitting 3.

That’s fair then. I thought LA had about a 16 footer to tie if Kisner had missed. I swore the screen said 3 AFTER they hit from the crater which I was not sure was a penalty area or not.
