LA Wildfires, 100K people evacuated and counting

Calling people out is, apparently, very important to you.  You have hit this theme a few times in the last couple of days.  Perhaps you can outline with greater specificity precisely what you would like to see in this regard. Maybe some AI generated bit of video of a Clint Eastwood style character in a Sergio Leone setting calling someguy out.  Maybe something from the Outlaw Jose Wales telling the offending poster to pull them pistols or whistle Dixie.

Perhaps you might consider that the most effective way to discourage trolls is to not give them the attention they so desperately seek.

Once again you misunderstand me. Calling people out isn’t important to me; I’m not begging for it. I only note it because the failure to do so takes away credibility from those here who regard themselves as conservatives. You guys constantly bridle at being grouped in with racists and bigots and jerks who cheer on the fire but as long as you tolerate such people in your midst you’re going to be painted with a broad brush and you should expect it. And this is the same problem you have when you chose to elect a guy like Trump who is all of these things as well. (He hasn’t cheered on the fire but he might has well have given his remarks.)

As far as not giving these folks attention- we’ll never know if not doing so would be effective or not because all too many conservatives here are cheering these losers on, responding positively to their posts, conversing with them like normal, etc.

It's very clear to everyone here you cannot handle free speech. It's a right you don't deserve. The fact you consistently try to take away other people's right to free speech speaks volumes that your side, the liberal side is a danger to our constitutional republic.

Please go back to football guys it's a safe space for you and your kind. Clearly, this site is too much for you to handle.

Deserve's got nothing to do with it.

Tim is promoting hate and divide in his posts.

I think decent people should hate bigotry, anti-semitism, and cheering for bad things to happen, and I think we should try to divide ourselves from those who pursue such things. So I suppose you’re right.

Just an FYI, I did not vote for Trump, not once, not ever.  As for the label "conservative", well it has been co-opted over the last 15 or so years to the point where it is no longer recognizable to its original meaning, and I don't believe it applies to me, but have it your way.

Fair enough. What I wrote is true I believe of many conservatives here. I shouldn’t have written “you guys” if it doesn’t apply to you. I won’t make that error again.

I would agree with you that there are some extreme opinions expressed here.  Whether they are expresed for shock value, to get a rise out of folks, or are sincerely held i cannot say with certainty. Ii suspect both are true.  I suspect I know who is actually virulent and who just wants attention, but I try to leave it alone as I have never seen an internet fight won and I don't expect I ever will.

Back to the fire. In terms of evaluating state government performance (which seems to be what most people here care about) I think we need to divide it into two categories: before the fire (preparation) and during the fire.

There is a whole lot of criticism about what happened or what didn’t happen before the fire. I think that a lot of it is bogus (delta smelt, sending equipment to Ukraine, preferring diversity over competence, etc.) and some of it may have real merit (cutting spending on fire preparation, lower amounts of water, etc.) We really won’t know the answers to this without a thorough examination of what went wrong. That will take place, but unfortunately both sides will predictably attempt to focus on the narrative that suits them the best.

Since the fire began, however, I think the government has performed very well, particularly Newsom. Bass less so; she seems to be preoccupied with deflecting blame which is never a good look.

I guess liberal perceived bigotry causes liberals to be incompetent in their work. And flat out stupid overall. :dunno:

Your message deserves to be disapproved and condemned. It does not deserve to be censored. Thats what you don’t seem to understand about free speech. Free speech protects your right to be ignorant and hateful. You certainly spend a lot of time exercising that right.

The claim: LAPD sought three 'persons of interest' in fires tied to MAGA website

A Jan. 8 Threads post (direct link, archive link) claims Los Angeles authorities linked the California wildfires to three supporters of President-elect Donald Trump.

"Apparently LAPD are looking for three 'persons of interest,' all tied to a MAGA website and who were spotted at the source of all three major LA fires," the post reads. "This might have been the opening salvo in Trump’s war against any State he considers an 'enemy within.'"

The post was shared more than 200 times in four days.

Three guys here now rooting for the fire and not one conservative here calls them out on it. In this forum, you can be a bigot, a racist, an anti-Semite, you can root for fires, you can wish for people to die or their loved ones to be raped- and so long as you’re perceived as a conservative nobody will ever call you out. In fact more often than not they’ll cheer you on. What a disgusting group.

I remember when you said you'd never post on this forum because it was so disgusting.  Why would you spend time in a place like this?

Oh, that's right. You're a pathelogical attention hoer

Where does Tim try to staunch free speech here? He is doing exactly what free speech allows, and needs; he is bringing attention to the malicious nastiness spewing from some of the righties here. Rooting for the focking fire to kill and destroy as much as possible -- this is what you are defending. I know class and integrity aren't exactly prerequisites for posting here, but if the overused and mostly ridiculous term toxic masculinity has a poster boy, @Horseman is the guy.

Toxic Horsemanurity is a true POS.

I even tagged you, ya useless, miserable waste of humanity.

Sadly enough there's still plenty of fuel for this fire to spread. Unfortunately due to DEI and budget cuts, there's still a ton of brush, vegetation and overgrowth to keep this fire going for days. Not to mention an empty resivior and out of commission equipment.

Highest taxes in the Country, and for what?

The biggest state government in the country, spends more on government than most nations and they flat out can’t provide basic services. Can’t put out a freaking fire. Sh!tlib simps of the state think they've performed well.

Rental rates continue to soar and the amount of vacancies is almost nil. I was able to secure an apartment for my family in west LA last Friday in the nick of time (only because I got a lucky after many inquiries). That isn’t available now. Nothing is. If you’re looking for an apartment to relocate in Los Angeles might as well move to another county.

Don’t believe you successfully helped a client with as much time as your spend in chat rooms. More fake news from you.

Another problem is that landlords continue to demand proof of renters insurance before allowing possession, as they should. But most of the insurance companies have placed a halt on all new insurance in LA county no matter how minor. So this needs to be resolved one or another.

I mentioned rents and home costs earlier in this thread. Only going to soar with all these homes gone and you want to import more hombres into the country to help fix CA.

New immigrants to this area (or any area) don’t rent or own the same type of places that people like my in laws reside in. You’re talking apples and oranges. Do they impact each other? Maybe long term but even that’s debatable. Doesn’t matter anyhow; we need them.

And we’re going to rebuild all those homes and commercial property. Maybe not exactly the same manner but it’s going to be done. Los Angeles is going to be an economic boomtown in the next few years. People are going to make fortunes here.

Of course they don’t impact where the beautiful people live. It’s the people struggling they impact, those on the lower rung . Rents get pushed up and it bubbles up to the working class. You don’t care

Look at Toxic Horsemanurity going back to the same well over and over again. Call him out for being the pile of human trash that he is and he responds with some variation of questioning your manhood. Over and over and over he shows that he is by far the most insecure buttboy posting here. Terrified of the rest of the world finding out his true predilections. Hates himself for it, so makes every attempt to spread his own self-loathing to the rest of us.

Newsflash for the unrepentant human mound of fecal matter: you aren't insulting me by targeting my masculinity. Those of us that are real men aren't phased by that; we just laugh at the desperation you exhibit daily.
