Nominate something. We need a break from the politics.

Best value for your dollar at the bar jukebox has for to be 2112 side 1. Pick that as your last selection and the bar will be listening to your tunes all night  :music_guitarred:

Tom Sawyer is like their Stairway, great songs overplayed to death. Probably a good thread idea.

Tough choice for sure, but I'll go with Limelight.

Rick Beato is one of my favorite youtubers.  He makes a good case for Xanadu, and breaks it down musically.  He said they basically did one practice run to set up the equipment, then recorded the second take.  Amazing.

The vid is 37 minutes long; FF to 4:15 where he names his pick of Xanadu, then around 6:30 he talks about how the recording is a little sharp and brings a brightness, then starts breaking down the song.

Rusty II remastered my first six albums and put them on Spotify and YouTube.

Then he found an old cassette tape of me focking around on acoustic guitar, digitized it, remastered it and threw that out there as well.

My biggest fan is some wanker in Finland.

Then there are dozens of unreleased songs on cassettes and CDs in addition to like 20 more I've yet to record.

They're all terrible, but fock it!

I know this will be an unpopular pick, but I love Time Stand Still off one of their later albums.

Not unpopular with me.  Some very emotional lyrics in that one.

My wife chose that song for the son/mother dance when our son got married last May.

She did go with the version the Army band did as a tribute to Neil Peart, though.

My intro to Rush was Moving Pictures, specifically Tom Sawyer.  I was about 14 at the time.  It was one of a handful of times in my musical life where I was like "whoa, what in the f*ck was that awesomeness$#@!?"  Mostly it was Neil Peart's drumming, I had never heard anything like that.  So while I can't say it was their best song, it probably has the most personal meaning to me.

I did go back to really get into Permanent Waves; I played the crap out of that and Moving Pictures.  I also got into 2112, not sure why, as I wasn't an Ayn Rand conservative at the time (at least to my knowledge).  I knew the more famous older songs like Closer to the Heart, Xanadu, the Trees, to a lesser extent La Villa Strangiata.  But for whatever reason, I never explored those entire albums in much detail.  I'm guessing whatever friend groups I was in, didn't do so.

RIP Neil, the GOAT of rock drumming.
