Dynasty Alert: Tet McMillan isn't going to be that good

Recommended Posts

Tet
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 214

Tall long strider with decent top end speed and strong hands and suspect acceleration.  Very good at snatching the ball at the air and good (not great) at contested catches.  He's not going to be special in the NFL, though.  He's closer to Laquon Treadwell than Tee Higgins who I hear him getting compared to.  Route running isn't great.  He's decent at comeback routes, but other than that he's not creating enough separation.  He has nothing redeeming in his ability to get deep.  And I've heard people say he has explosion off the line, but I couldn't disagree with that more.  In fact, I find his release and get-off to be rather sluggish.  He actually reminds me of a stronger Marvin Harrison JR in that he gets open by overpowering smaller DBs or finding soft spots in zones.  That doesn't translate to the NFL just like it didn't for MHJ.

Most receiver scouts are bad, so if you hear them saying he's explosive or talking about how he's such a great athlete with elite agility for his size, just know it's not showing up in his play.

I was watching some highlights against New Mexico, he gets a ton of separation in that game. Haven't watched him play live so maybe you are right, but it strains credulity, that a college receiver can go 90-1402 followed by 84-1319 without being able to separate...

The New Mexico game was fake separation.  All on comeback routes and running through zones against accountants.

yeah, sometimes the separation a player gets also depends on the competition they are against too.

probably you want to look at how he does when hes up against top college corners.   Those guys will be closer to NFL calibre than the weak opponents

I called Nabers over Marvin Harrison around this time last year when all the pundits were calling MHJ a generational talent.  Doesn't mean I'm guaranteed to be right.  But I sure as hell wouldn't trust the draft touts either.  Just saying.

All I'm saying is I trust my evaluation over the draft pundits.  Steve Smith and Chris Simms were the only people that seem to get it right on a regular basis.

Hopefully that's the reason why at 6'4", he was so prone to hitting DL in the chest.  I've never seen a QB that tall, get so many passes batted down, where the DL didn't jump or the ball NOT hit his arms.

This WR class sucks as a whole

I'm hearing analysis that he's so fast.  And the hype is building that he's awesome.  Please don't believe the hype.  The fast is caveated that he might not test well, but he's so fast on the field.

If you hear that, immediately try to forget whatever that person said and never listen to them for wide receiver analysis again.  Watching him play, it's extremely clear that he's not fast.

Does he need to be fast? Lots of receivers were faster than Mike Evans when he came into the league.  I bet Tets 40 time winds up being similar. Can Tet put on 10 pounds?

I would comp him more to Drake London though

I mean you were also the one who said ladd mcconkey was elijah moore.

I have no idea on Tet.  Not my favorite type of WR.  But many of your concerns were similar to what they said about Drake London.  And he seems pretty good.

There are definitely some red flags in his profile. He's know to take plays off and looks very disinterested at times, especially when he's not involved.

This could be another Quinton Johnson.

He is elijah Moore.  Ladd just isn't a head case like Moore is.  That's to mean Moore should be as good as Ladd, but he can't get out of his own way.

Look, I don't interview these guys.  All I can tell is if they have the skills to ball.

So you guys listen to people who said he's Drake London.  Got it.

He can at least catch.

QJ, by the way.  Another 1st round JAG I called.

I think he can be better than a Jag but in no way a franchise WR. He's going to need to land in the right spot IMO.

I have honestly not watched enough of him to really say.  I understand the conerns of a guy who may not be able to create separation.  Not my favorite WR type. He could be a bust.

I watch a decent amount of college but cant say I caught too many Arizona games.  Ive started recently looking over players but sort of skip the top guys, as they have no chance of being drafted by my team.  And im a little too old to be thinking about fantasy football in February.

Not everyone needs a comp not everyone has a good comp.  To throw one out there maybe a poor mans Mike Thomas.  Since nobody thinks I pulled Drake London from reading something I cant use him.

PFF has Tet graded the highest of any WR on slant routes.

I will agree with Nobody and you that I am also a fan of Egbuka. Im a fan of drafting Ohio St WRs in general.  I like his game.  If he was a stand alone top WR on another top team with so many other stud WRs, he would have probably gotten more attention and br slated to go higher.

I've been joking about it but I think it's a better WR draft class than people are giving it credit for. It's not a top heavy class but there's going to be some great values, especially for Dynasty players.

Again they are mocks in February.

But found it interesting, saw a tweet that said Jerimiah, Mcshay, and Kiper all have Burden falling out of the 1st round in their latest mocks.

Only one I double checked was Jeremiah but I assume its true.  Jeremiah has Tet going 19th.

I'd be shocked if he fell out of the first. Perfect fit for the Texans

You got any under the radar guy's you like? Or is it to soon for you. I'm talking like day 3 picks you'd hang your hat on.

I have two early picks in a Dynasty Rookie draft and I want no part of Tet. The running back class is way too good this year.

Higgins the big winner of the combine at WR.  Thoughts of grabbing him in bottom half of the 2nd is probably out the door.

Yeah his numbers are wild.  He was first in yds per route ran vs zone by a mile.  And also 1st vs man which he saw minimal targets vs man.  But in both hes first and vs zone hes off the charts.

That time wont annihilate him.  But it did him no good.
