ORRRRRR ORRRRRR Mayyybeee you could just say "Hey, I didn’t get it, or It wasn’t for me." Then maybe make an attempt to understand before declaring it the biggest POS performance at a Super Bowl. Your lack of intellectual curiosity says a lot here.

As for your last statement, you keep missing the point, but "OMG a bunch of old white dudes didn’t understand"

It was not for me. Or the majority of America. I look forward to next year's performer being Trump signing executive orders at mid field.

I think you're missing the target demographic.   My 18 year old son and a few of his friends already had tickets purchased to see Kendrick Lamar in st Louis this coming June.   My friend's 20- something daughter was over watching the game with us and she thought it was great.   My wife knew most of the songs because she is a high school counselor.

We are just getting focking old.

This. You're on point with your posts here.

The angry middle-aged white men here can't understand that this is what's popular right now, and that the performance was full of symbolism, and I love how Trump was there for it.

It will go down as one of the greatest SB halftime performances ever, and as much as MAGAs are feeling their oats right now, they better enjoy it while they can.

As long as we can hold on to democracy until midterms, I think we're good.

Middle aged Black people had no idea of the symbolism, and the younger blacks for sure had no idea what it was about.  The black sport radio host I listen to said he does not listen to much of Lamar and did not know what the show was about until he read about after the game.  So even if you like the music the symbolism missed the point at the time.

So people missing the symbolism in the moment means they can't go back and understand it now, eh?

Guess we can't go back and reinterpret Bob Dylan lyrics, Maya Angelou poetry or Van Gogh paintings because folks at the time didn't understand or appreciate their meaning.

Great art often is not fully understood in the moment but undergoes years, decades and even centuries of analysis, interpretation and paradigm shift.

I wouldn't call that Super Bowl performance great art, but it did rise to the level of taking some time to interpret and understand, and more often than not it takes discussion for those who didn't get it the first time to experience intellectual growth and a better understanding.

Critics brutally criticized pretty much every Led Zeppelin album, but time has proven them embarrassingly wrong.

Great art misunderstood in the beginning is the best art.

Van Gogh's work didn't rise to masterpiece level until well after his death.

I would have booked Tears for Fears. 1985 was the peak of music. They're still releasing new songs and performing as well.

It'll probably be Taylor Swift, but seeing as it's No. 60, it ought to be Rolling Stones or something, but it's odd that Metallica hasn't done the halftime show.

They probably want to get paid and the NFL won't do that. That's my best guess.

I think he can all agree that it wasn't great. And the Superbowl deserves better. And I'm not a Kendrick hater.

It was pretty boring IMO.

The show was lame. I now know why though. His style of rap is called mumble rap. That’s why nobody could understand a word he said.

also I don’t get it at all

The dude just won all the Grammy’s so he’s relevant, Show was fine.and I barely know who he is and could give a shet about his battle with Drake. People complaining about the halftime show is tradition though, like the Turducken on Thanksgiving..

I get it, but so called "Great Art" and a football game halftime entertainment are not exactly a good mix.  The masses who watch are drinking, having parties, eating food and talking about the first half and basically distracted.  They are not concentrating and looking for symbolism.  In a theatre where you are there for one reason, to see the artist. yes, it would be totally different. I would bet more than half the TV audience had no idea who Lamar is.

As I stated before I am in the age group that listens to this music, that like Lamar..but I was just listening to the music while other were talking and grabbing food or whatever,  I glanced at the TV to watch some dancing but really was not looking for anything.

Everyone is different but I concentrate on every play during the Superbowl and we talk about it.  At halftime I just want to hear some songs I like and have a drink. Really don`t want to try to try and dissect the hidden meanings of what the artist was trying to do.

When Lady GaGa, Prince, Bruno Mars or whoever played, they bang out 15 minutes of their music for entertainment. That is what it is called.  Halftime entertainment.

It wasn't all that great.  Not the worst like some say and not the greatest like others say.  It was just, ok.

Hardly saw much of it.  Never really care about halftime shows regardless of who is up there.

Whats the one song about?  Calling drake a pedo?  Didnt drake sue the record label that put out the song?

Rap beefs for halftime shows is quite weird to me.  Im not that old, but old enough to remember what rap beefs meant.  This is this generations idea of a rap beef?  Lol?  Call a guy a pedo then guy sues?

Weak

He's the first one I now know has won a grammy. It's not making that much of an impression on me. I'm sure they have given out 1000s since they started it.

There were 94 categories of grammys handed out last year. This is what they give out every year just for mostly black audience listeners.

R&B, Rap & Spoken Word Poetry

So the answer is, no. It does not define relevance.

If I had gone and won the Prix de Lausanne, would that have made me relevant in the eyes of the general public? No.

Winning Grammy’s not relevant because Peefoam doesn’t follow them.

Oh ok!
