With your other liberal fear mongers who are financially unstable to the point that you all can't help but cry on an anonymous posting website.

As for me. I'm enjoying this and know that America is better for what is going on.

You go cry about egg prices, and I'll sit back and watch you cry and enjoy it because I know you are not worth your fat weight in salt to this country.

With every post you sound dumber. You obviously know nothing about economics. Beyond that, the fact that you are cheering for other people to feel pain and suffer makes you either a doosh or pretending to be a doosh. Doesn’t matter really.

Virtually the only economists who say that we can avoid a full blown recession are the ones who think that Trump will back down.

Sure.  As usual no sourcing for your assertion.  You're just making sh*t up again PedoTim

I obviously don't know economics. That's why I'm financially well off and enjoying my life while you cry online ad nauseum about a tariff.

And I'm cheering on YOUR pain and suffering. I don't like anything in life you stand for and I'm happy to watch you continue to fail. The more you fear monger and complain the happier it makes me.

You don't belong in this country. You are weak.

Hey Captain Idiot. The tariffs are based on trade deficits. They’re not reciprocal (they will be now.)

It's not "bragging". It's just truth. You keep telling everyone they are doomed. I'm defending the smart people. Like myself to not allow this fear mongering unchecked.

You focking idiot. Glad you are suffering.

The problem is Trump campaigned in large part on lowering costs and it assumes every future POTUS maintains his tariff policy. By the time a lot of that manufacturing comes online he won’t be in office.

I'm not disputing anything you posted.  But the alternative is we do nothing.  There's not a plan from Democrats to address this other than opposing Trump.  So by default it's this or status quo.  If we agree the playing field is not level, this is only partially addressing it, but it is starting to do so.  At least Biden did not reverse the tariffs on China when he was in office.  One thing that is a possibility, how often does the government willingly let go of revenue?  I'd like to see the projections and actual (when available) of what flows into the government from these.  It's not going to be small and by default the deficit is going to be reduced.

But I agree short term it could be bad.  The American public I have next to no faith in as far as having the stomach to stick through turbulent waters if they come and therefore is politically perilous for Trump and Republicans.

You’re 100% right about the Dems.

There’s a case for short term pain = long term benefit, but Trump never made that case. He campaigned on lowering costs. Can’t blame the public if they don’t have the stomach for it.

I’d be willing to bet Trump does away with most of the tariffs before the midterms. It’s a stunt not a strategy.

The alternative is that we provide incentives for corporations to invest in the US.  Like the chips act which brought chip manufacturing to the US. It's using a carrot instead of a stick.  Give people a reason to invest here without punishing them or consumers.

The other alternative is to renegotiate trade deals. Trump did this with NAFTA, creating the the usmca. Instead of renegotiating other trade deals he is just punishing the world.

It's not a smart tactic.  If you're hoping for long term gain don't hold your breath.  Factories won't start popping up overnight if at all.

The likely outcome here is that this crashes the global economy and in 2 years Congress unwinds it all and we to healing and moving forward.

It's your position that Trump never campaigned on Tariffs?  I think you're wrong there.

There was almost no hiring due to the CHIPS act because of the DEI requirements.

He is wrong. And the tariffs will do what Trump said they will do.

Liberals are simply losing their minds over this like they have proven to do over absolutely everything Trump has done and will do in the future.

This is no different.

This is not true.  Estimates are over 100,000 jobs created.  If anything the issue has been not being able to fill these jobs due to either lack of talent or lack of interest.  Young adults don't exactly aspire to be factory workers anymore.

We haven't seen higher costs yet, have we?  You, like @The Real timschochet, are jumping ahead a little bit.  You might have a legit complaint IF his Tariffs result in higher prices.  But, as even you have noted, they may not even last.  A bunch of countries have already capitulated and started lowering/eliminating Tariffs.

But I would posit that anyone who listened to his platform understood that there could be some short term pain in the name of long term gain.  It's unfortunate that so much of our populace lives in sound bites and doesn't intelligently parse the entirety of what someone says.  There was a study done a few Presidential cycles ago documenting how each Presidential cycle finds the candidates dumbing down their vocabulary/speaking style.  Kamala was probably the epitome of that.  She speaks like a third grader.  Idiocracy truly was a documentary and eventually we will have our own Camacho as President.  Fortunately I'll likely be long gone by then.

So there are no young people delivering packages, mail, working at companies that make pens, sticky notes, plastic containers, working in food service or bartending, working on the railroad, garbage collectors, being plumbers, etc...etc....etc...?

Are you really this focking stupid?

Higher costs will come.  Everyone knows this including trump.

Funny you bring up that vocabulary study.  Back in 2018 Trump was found to speak at a 4th grade level,  lowest among last 15 presidents.  Last term he dropped to a 3rd grade level while Harris was at a 6th grade level.

No, we haven’t seen higher prices yet. If Trump carries through on his plan and we see lower costs and a new US manufacturing boom I’ll be thrilled, I’m just not banking on it. My guess is Trump eliminates most of the tariffs before midterms and claims Great Success.

I didn’t watch a ton of Trump speeches but I do remember a lot of biiching about inflation and a promise to lower prices. I must have missed the talk about short term pain if he gets elected.

Trump specifically said he will lower prices on day 1.  That never happened.

Let me give your tiny mind a hint. He set things in motion on day one. Your whole damaged literal translation is all you have left. This means you are running on empty libtard. You literally have nothing left. ;)

When he said he was going to lower prices on day 1 he didn't mean that literally?  When do prices go down?

They are down. I do the shopping in my family. Just about everything is down as far as groceries and gas. Just because you all are broke, don't blame me.

And I laugh at you retards taking everything so literally down to the minute that you are too blind to see the good going on. I guess you didn't get that from my last post. Over your head I guess.
