This is awful (if accurate).

I'll wait for the details first.

All of a sudden liberals think this is awful. Trump is a dictator!!!

3) Hold elections even though Ukrainian law forbids it.

#3 was the only completely reasonable part. With #2, I can't fault President Trump for trying to get back some of the money we spent over there, but I'd always written it off as a loss/unrecoverable until he started talking about this a month ago. #5 is the unfortunate sh*t that happens when you lose a war. #1 and #4 though, those two are total bullsh*t.

To take that dude seriously in his 5 points is to take everyone on twitter seriously.

He lives his life based on twitter posts he agrees with.

It is not practical to hold elections when a country is at war and under martial law.

https://abcnews.go.com/International/ukraine-parliament-affirms-elections-wartime-rebuff-trump/story?id=116193627

Ukraine parliament affirms no elections during wartime in rebuff to Trump

KYIV, Ukraine -- Ukraine's parliament has passed a resolution affirming the legitimacy of Volodymyr Zelenskyy as president and confirming that elections are not possible until after the war ends.

The resolution is a rebuff to U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, who have both suggested Zelenskyy is illegitimate because he has not held elections during the war with Russia.

Zelenskyy said on Sunday he would step down if it meant peace for his country, adding he would also do so if it meant Ukraine would be granted NATO membership.

The parliament noted on Tuesday that Zelenskyy was elected in legitimate elections and his mandate is not in doubt. It also said that no elections can be held until the lifting of martial law after the coming of a "just and lasting peace."

Zelenskyy was elected in a landslide in 2019, but his term expired last May. Ukraine is under martial law which under its constitution forbids the holding of elections.

Most Ukrainians, including major opposition parties, agree that holding credible elections now amidst the war is not possible because millions are abroad as refugees, hundreds of thousands are fighting.

An election could also be an opportunity for Russia to divide the country while it is trying to defend itself. [,,,]

So it's no longer about the people of the nation. It's all about the ego maniacal president who wants what he wants.

And you call Trump a dictator ? 😆

If you read the link, the Ukranian Parliament does not think so and Zelensky has their full support and most Ukranians agree with that decision

Now that I think about it, add FDR, LBJ, George W, Obama, and Trump himself  to the list to the list.

Somehow in the US, we've always been able to pull off a war and an election simultaneously.

Zelinsky also put his #1 political opponent in jail but that's forgivable considering that Biden tried to do the same thing.

But not under martial law while fighting off an invasion from a foreign country. Plus the Constitution does not provide for a wartime exception for the holding of national elections.

Fun Fact:

The UK postponed its scheduled 1940 general elections due to World War II, maintaining a wartime coalition government. A general election was only held in 1945, once military victory was secured and governance could return to democratic norms.

Zelensky had a journalist murdered who spoke out against him.

That is alleged by Elon Musk, but there is no proof to verify that claim.

First, Trump attacked Zelenskyy in the Oval Office as a pretext to pause aid to Ukraine. Now, his admin is pausing intelligence sharing with Ukraine.

Trump is applying one-sided pressure on Ukraine, clearly trying to push Zelenskyy into surrendering to Putin’s demands.

America cut off a key intelligence channel for notifications at 2:00 p.m. Kyiv time. Until now: data for HIMARS targeting. Ukraine also does not receive real-time information for strikes deep into Russia. “Trump wanted gratitude,” the source says. “We will write it on the graves of the fallen Ukrainians.”

Suppose the South had won at Gettysburg and occupied Pennsylvania, threatening to invade further north? Do you think that under those circumstances Lincoln would have held elections? I don’t.

How can he do this? If we grant people refugee status how does that get reversed?

The US held an election excluding the seceded states. There was no US in the South and some states were also excluded in the 1868 and 1872 elections. And there was no conflict in any of the Union states at the time of the 1864, it was entirely held by the Union. Ukraine is different, Crimea is the only fully occupied province. Luhansk and Donetsk are only partially occupied and the governments are not recognized by anyone but Russia, and there is warfare across multiple northern border provinces. The Union also did not have to deal with ballistic missiles, drones, bombers, fighter jets & incoming artillery hitting on and around polling locations.  It's like caviar & BBQ brisket, two totally different things.

They have temporary, not permanent refugee legal status, that's how.

https://x.com/cenkuygur/status/1897662453250498917

Reuters is reporting Trump is going to pull temporary protection status for 240,000 Ukrainians here. Then they can be deported back to the middle of the war. Those people are innocent and had nothing to do with hurting Trump’s precious feelings. This is what a cruel person does.

It’s not about cruelty or hurting Trump’s feelings. The action would severely burden Ukraine’s government at a critical time. It’s being done in an attempt to help Russia win the war.

Last night, the Russian army struck the center of Dobropillya in the Donetsk region with two ballistic missiles. After our emergency services arrived at the scene, they launched another strike, deliberately targeting the rescuers. This is a vile and inhumane intimidation tactic often used by the Russians.

Tragically, at this moment, 11 people are confirmed dead. My condolences to their families and loved ones. More than 30 people were injured, including 5 children. Eight five-story apartment buildings, an administrative facility, and a fire truck were damaged.

I thank all the emergency services, police, SES personnel, and medics who, despite the threat of repeated strikes, remain undaunted and are saving people from this terror. To everyone who defends lives while risking their own.

Such strikes show that Russia's objectives have not changed. Therefore, it is crucial to continue to do our best to protect lives, strengthen our air defenses, and increase sanctions against Russia. Everything that helps Putin finance the war must collapse.

Using missile attacks to kill innocent people (noncombatants)  in order to spread terror and fear is not an act of war. It is an act of terrorism. Putin is a war criminal.

Cool. Good thing Zelenaky didn't any help from the US. Two terrorist countries fighting it out.
