Joe Biden "A great American Tragedy"

Recommended Posts

NBC News: Joe Biden ascended to the highest office in America with a pledge to unite the country, strengthen his party and defend democracy.

Instead, in the 82-year-old’s Oval Office denouement, he leaves a nation divided, a party in tatters and the American people questioning the self-described institutionalist’s respect for the rule of law.

Many Democrats are blaming Biden for handing the White House to Donald Trump, criticizing the aging politician for staying in office too long and reeling after he pardoned his son. Exacerbating the frustrations, Biden recently expressed doubt about his ability to serve another four years after dismissing voters’ concerns about that very issue as he sought re-election.

The president harbors bitter resentment toward members of his own party. After the November election, he privately mused about the idea of pardoning Trump as a magnanimous move, according to a person directly familiar with his comments, At the same time, Biden is not on speaking terms with what used to be some of his closest allies.

It is all an inglorious coda to five decades in public office.

“The Joe Biden story is one of the great tragedies of American politics. I really mean that. He should be having a glorious, well deserved, highly acclaimed retirement. And he’s not,” veteran Democratic political strategist James Carville said. “It’s hard to blame anybody but him.”

I'm not going to fault Joe for the divisions in this country. The way our media is presently constructed and consumed, there is almost zero chance of a POTUS from either party overcoming those divisions. Probably even less chance of a Democrat doing it.

Everything else is fair game. He had some policy wins, but Dems are so inept at messaging that those wins were rarely highlighted. I 100% blame him for not holding to his word of being a 1-term president, his handlers for covering up his mental decline, and the DNC for being utterly useless and incompetent for most of my life. I have no pity for him feeling bad right now. He screwed himself, his party, and every American by putting his own ego ahead of the interests of the country.

This is from January and looks like an opinion piece from the three writers.

As bad as Biden was, when I think back on his "4 years" as president, my biggest take away is asking myself what did he actually do?

I'm sure one of the sheep democrats who base their lives around politics can tell me some things he accomplished while in office, but the biggest thing that comes to mind for me is the student loan forgiveness garbage that he attempted....  well, that and the sad ending of being forced out by his own party.

I don't have any great hatred for him. After all, he was a hot headed and racist senator who they used in his old age to attach to Obama and then decided that he would remind people enough of Obama to beat Trump.

I would have already held much more hatred for Kamala, had she won. I think she would have been a much bigger disaster than anything from 2021-2024.

It is, but one might think this was some sort of editorial by NBC and not just an opinion piece by the three writers (since there was no link provided and the authors names were omitted from the OP).

He copied and pasted the article.   Most people can figure out the analysis you did.   The link literally says "nbcnews"

The OP wasn't being deceptive.  My goodness quit it.

First couple paragraphs were enough to make it a fast read.

The rest of the article gets worse for Biden.

If not that then what?

So explain what you meant by this.  I said most people could figure it out, you said that wasn't true.  What am I missing?

Dude, it is an opinion piece, the credibility of the authors is irrelevant as they are still just expressing their opinion and not an official NBC editorial position.

I never said it was.  It was from NBCNews.Com site.

Do you think James Carville knows the ins and outs of the Dem Party?  Do you think his opinion carries any weight?

You probably did until now.

What started this was that I was respondng to what you originally said:

"no one would have been able to analyze the article as you."

Which is not the same as saying most people could figure it out. "No one" is all inclusive and has a different meaning than "most people"

No, but your omission of the authors names in your cut and paste and not providing the link suggests that (perhaps not intentional on your part).

I haven't taken James Carville's rants seriously in the last decade (which is probably true of most Democrats and liberals IMO). He hasn't been relevant since the Clinton years.
