CHILLING: 'Star Wars' Actor John Boyega Calls Franchise 'So White'

Recommended Posts

Focking racist idiot.

Why do black people think they should be 50%+ represented in every part of life in this country? And hold all the lead positions.

They make up 13% of the population. It's freaking simple math.

And oh, his role was "diminished" because he was black. WTF?

https://www.outkick.com/culture/star-wars-actor-john-boyega-calls-franchise-too-white

John Boyega, who played Finn in the latest "Star Wars" trilogy, criticized the franchise for being too "white" in a new documentary about black actors in Hollywood.

"Lemme tell ya, ‘Star Wars’ always had the vibe of being in the most whitest, elite space. It’s a franchise that’s so white that a black person existing in [it] was something," Boyega said in the AppleTV+ documentary "Number One on the Call Sheet: Black Leading Men in Hollywood."

"You can always tell it’s something when some ‘Star Wars’ fans try to say, ‘Well, we had Lando Calrissian and had Samuel L. Jackson!’ It’s like telling me how many cookie chips are in the cookie dough. It’s like, they just scattered that in there, bro!"

Is that so?

Specifically, Boyega claims that "Star Wars" fans draw the line when black actors are cast in lead roles.

"They’re okay with us playing the best friend, but once we touch their heroes, once we lead, once we trailblaze, it’s like, ‘Oh my God, it’s just a bit too much! They’re pandering," he said.

But it's not just the fans of "Star Wars" who Boyega has taken issue with. In a 2020 interview with GQ Magazine, he also accused Disney of a racial bias after diminishing his character in the third film of the trilogy, 2019's "The Rise of Skywalker.

The funny thing is that this guy isn't even from the US - he's from England.  They don't even have the same history regarding slavery as we do.  In fact, it was the British Empire that ENDED slavery in the world (other than the US).  Jesus, England is damn near all Muslim now so WTF is he talking about?

And, to be clear, you aren't "trailblazing" if all your doing is replacing the skin color of "their heroes".  "Trailblazing" would mean you're starting/playing your own, unique superhero.

What a dumb-a$$.

Imagine being in such "blockbuster" hits such as "They Cloned Tyrone", "The Woman King", and "Naked Singularity" and then getting cast in Star Wars films and that's one you bltch about.

What the hell is wrong with these dopes?

As a director I would never hire him. He just seems like a mad, entitled dude. He thinks that DISNEY is racist? The "put a chick in it and make it gay" company?

Rey was hot.  Chipmunk Cheeks Finn could have easily been replaced by a robot.  He was terrible.

I love it when the white black guys get enraged about race. They are true racists.

I guess writers are expected now to adjust their storylines to accommodate black actors. So they are more prominent in the story. The actual story is secondary. :dunno:

It's funny because it ends up making the movie worse. You need to ask the question why would the studio, knowing they will make less money, potentially way less money, accommodate this? It's all amusing. Laughing is all you can do when faced with such ridiculousness.

I will also gladly not watch more woke movies. These studios could have kept programming people without it being so obvious. Its so blatant at this point that the only people they are programming are the ones who are already a lost cause.

I hope to never see the guy again in a tv show or movie.

If I were him I'd be more pissed off that they did what they did to his character in the last two movies of the trilogy.

He IS mad because of that. He mentions it as a black write off.

He plays a focking character in a story. He's mad his character wasn't elevated. It's a focking fictional story for God's sake. And he took the role.

I think that what it really boils down to is he thought that he was going to be a star. Not only in the star wars universe but that it was going to help propel him in acting. That has not happened for him, and he wants to blame perceived racism as the reason.

He's just another in a long list of people looking to cash in on race baiting.

He's a loser. I hope he fails moving forward.

Is he arguing he wanted to have a bigger role in The Rise of Skywalker? A smart guy after reading that script would have been asking for less screen time.

I didn't want to see that movie, jbyscho! I wouldn't see another one of those movies! It was an abortion, jbyscho! It was a Star Wars movie!!! And I had it killed because this must all end!

Since Star Wars takes place a long time ago in a place far far away, it would be a better fictional story if there were no humans at all.

I’ve never seen a black person from outer space.
