I liked Kilmer but looking over his IMDB he was in a lot of crap movies. I wonder how his selection process was or if it just was show me the money

He was also pretty fawking good in The Doors movie. That movie should have been named Morrison as it was all about Jim. BTW, he is a first cousin to me. Go figure. And I just found out a few weeks ago I am also cousins with Mario Andretti. So I got that going for me.

Had he not been such a heavy smoker, he probably would have lived to add to his legacy.  The last movie I watched with him before Maverick was Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and that was hilarious.

RIP.

No.  No one thought that.  He just appeared in the latest Top gun movie 2 years ago.

I knew he was really sick.  I thought he had passed away a couple years ago.  Also, the movie came out 3 years ago and he most likely filmed his part a year or more before it's release.

Tough one for me, since he was a former throat cancer survivor and, like me, had a laryngectomy.

Quote

The cause of death was pneumonia, the New York Times reported, citing his daughter Mercedes Kilmer. The actor had lived with poor health for years due to throat cancer.

Pneumonia and other respiratory infections are more prevalent in folks like us, since we breathe through a stoma in our neck and thus don't get the filtration of the nose and mouth.

Anyway, I've loved everything I've seen him in.  RIP fellow neck breather.  Hope you are singing your heart out in the afterlife.

Prime has a pretty good documentary on him titled Val.

We watched that a few months ago.  It's actually his own documentary IIRC.  Dude was a big time video recorder guy who had video recordings he and his brothers took going back to their youth.  Agree it's a really good watch.

I'm sorry, did you personally know Val?  I'm sorry for your loss.

This one is great…

Chris Knight: So, if there's anything I can do for you - or, more to the point, *to* you - just let me know.

Susan: Can you hammer a six-inch spike through a board with your ?

Chris Knight: Not right now.

Susan: A girl's gotta have her standards.

Chris Knight: Have you ever seen a body like this before in your life?

David Decker: She happens to be my daughter.

Chris Knight: Oh. Then I guess you have

He wasn't a lead, but 'Heat' is one hell of a movie.

Rest In Peace

Big fan of Heat. Saw it in the theatre, and a few time after that, but it's been a while now. Val did a good job with his character, as did many others.

I rarely bought DVDs, but that movie was so good I had no choice. I might dig it out and watch it tonight.
