Southern Man vs. Sweet Home Alabama

It’s a Neil Young song- if you listen to it you’ll recognize it. Sweet Home is a direct response to it.

I'm not much of a music person, almost never listen.  I heard of Neil Young, but I couldn't tell you any of his songs... other than Southern Man, of course.

It would have been better if Lynard Skynard capped Neil Young’s ass. Gangsta. Like Biggie and Tupac.

Anybody ever been to Duval street in Key West? Every band plays Sweet Home Alabama at least 5 x a night.

I hope Neil Young will remember, a Southern Man don't need him around anyhow.

"Well, I heard Mr. Young sing about her
Well, I heard old Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around, anyhow"

FREE BIRD!!!!!! :music_guitarred:

I’ve seen them at least three times and they always came out for their encore, shut the lights, start playing Free Bird, then hit the lights with a mic stand with a cowboy hat on it and let the crowd sing the lyrics. VERY cool.

Sweet Home Alabama for the win.

Never heard of Southern Man

Then you aren't really familiar with music.

My favorite is walking around on a football Saturday in Tuscaloosa and seeing girls, clearly from out of state, that look like they just got pulled off the cast of Jersey Shore crooning to Sweet Home Alabama with their houndstooth hats on.  It's pretty funny times.

The best music in the world isn’t anything that’s gone platinum, that’s a meaningless statistic to me. It just means you care what everyone else thinks

Southern Man is a great song, and I can't believe you're such an ignorant dumbass that you haven't heard it.

I've said that regularly.  I almost never listen to music.  Wasn't that many years ago that I found out that The Who and Guess Who weren't the same band.  Same for Queen and Queensryche (sp?).

I know of Sweet Home Alabama and like it.  I looked in to see what the other song was.

I'm not sure how you go through life this way. I listen to music every day, sometimes for several hours. I'd probably rather go blind than deaf just because of music.

Music is ok, I just don't find it as entertaining as many do.  I'd rather listen to MLB and NFL Radio on Sirius/XM.  At work, music is in the background, but because I'm interacting with people a lot, I don't even hear it much.  When I'm in my office typing, I'm streaming MLB Radio this time of year.  When I'm home, I never listen to music.  At night, before bed, I usually watch YouTube, not TV because I find peoples' content to be more entertaining than network tv these days.  Those people almost never have music on their videos.  I can literally go weeks without ever listening to 1 song.
